Carlos Meyers' DMA Recital

In partial fulfilments of the Doctor of Musical Arts program offered by the Peabody Institute, Carlos has been given the tremendous privilege of coordinating an entire concert that is dedicated to showcasing his music exclusively. This degree recital serves as the capstone event of Carlos’ academic residency at Peabody and will showcase a selection of works which best represent his musical interests and aesthetic goals as a composer of contemporary music.

Three of the works on the program are of a much more recent timeframe and intimately reflect the most current directions in Carlos’ music. These are paired with two works not performed since his last showcase performance (the Blair undergraduate recital, March 2022) which are seeing new life in interpretations by some of Carlos’ close friends and collaborators with whom he came to know through his time at Peabody.

Carlos would like to deeply thank and acknowledge all of those who have been large presences in his life through the last half a decade of musical education (and even long before), as without the unwavering and at times ineffably profound support of these individuals, there is no way that any of this music would have come to be:

His primary teachers, Kevin Puts and Felipe Lara - for the insightfulness, honesty, and personability you brought to each and every one of our lessons together

His family: parents (Jim and Mirta Meyers), siblings (Nora and Paul Meyers), and incredibly tight-knit network of extended relatives - for finding every possible opportunity to show their love and interest in the many ideas and projects, and also for risking it all by financially sponsoring the vast extent of my educational investment

His partner Olivia Harrison - for the daily smile; for every effort she’s made to bring love, warmth, and security to this crazy and exciting life together through the last 5 years; and for the enthusiasm and ambition they bring out in each other.

Thank you all.
