Love and Harmony

Composed originally as a project for a course focused on the techniques of choral composition, Love and Harmony is a text setting of a William Blake poem of the same name. The piece roughly follows an ABAB’A’ form in an effort to reflect the structure and mood of the poem, showcasing a part song style of choral writing with familiar voice leading and some influence from 16th century counterpoint. Aside from that, the harmonic language resembles that of early Romantic period songs with use of some non-traditional cadences.
