Serenity

Serenity is the second piece Carlos wrote as a part of the MYSO John Downey Creation Project. Composed for full orchestra, the work features two simple, contrasting, and serene melodies that alternate in the rough ABA form of the piece. Being Carlos’ first experience with a full sized orchestra, the work shows significant influence from his experience with writing concert band, but also a reach into more delicate and lush sounds that can be achieved with such a orchestra.
